} Connacht (, is the western province of Ireland, comprising the counties of Galway (Co. na Gaillimhe), Leitrim (Liatroim), Mayo (Co. Mhaigh Eo), Roscommon (Co. Ros Comáin), Sligo (Sligeach). Around Irish a province is unremarkably Cúige Chonnacht i.e. a province (literally, fifth) of Connacht. Its independent urban centres come Galway in the south, and Sligo in the north. It has a people of 464,000, the smallest of the quatern Irish provinces.

A Irish language is spoken in the Gaeltacht areas of west Mayo and west Galway, a largest existence Connemara.

A greatest point of Connacht is Mweelrea (814 metres), within Mayo. Its big island is Achill, the largest around Ireland. A large flow of any stream is Lough Corrib.

As much as a early historic era, it was referred to as Cóiced Ol nEchmacht.

Connacht-Ulster was one of Ireland's 4 regional constituencies for elections to the European Parliament until it was superseded in 2004 per fresh constituency of Ireland North West.
